The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah welcomed 2026 with a spectacular 15-minute show of fireworks and drones, setting a new Guinness World Records title for the 'Largest aerial phoenix formation created by multi-rotor drones'. The image of the phoenix, a symbol of rebirth, optimism, and renaissance, was chosen to celebrate the spirit of progress and prosperity that characterizes Ras Al Khaimah and its ambition to create a bright future. The show featured 2,300 drones, including 1,000 advanced drones equipped with fireworks and lasers that illuminated the phoenix's wings as it flew over the Ras Al Khaimah waterfront. The drones also presented another stunning formation titled 'Welcome', depicting a figure rising from the sea with open arms, expressing the emirate's warm and open spirit and its welcoming embrace of the world. Following the drone show, a breathtaking fireworks display stretched for six kilometers from Coral Island to Al Hamra, with a countdown to midnight. Hundreds of fireworks were launched in coordinated waves along the coast, and thousands of spectators in Ras Al Khaimah's beachfront resorts and visitors to the New Year's Eve festival enjoyed a variety of live performances and joyful celebrations. Residents of the emirate also enjoyed an early fireworks display at Qawasim Corniche. CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, Philippa Harrison, stated that the New Year's Eve celebration in Ras Al Khaimah sees wide attendance from guests year after year, driving them to offer an inclusive celebration for both the community and visitors. She added that securing a new Guinness World Records title is a significant achievement, noting that 2025 was a year of progress for Ras Al Khaimah, and this night served as a culmination of those achievements and a welcome to the new year with an optimistic and enthusiastic spirit. With this new Guinness World Records achievement, Ras Al Khaimah continues to bolster its record-breaking legacy, cementing its status as a leading global destination for innovative New Year's celebrations.
